In Hotels and Resorts, Travel Resources by Jenny Cavcic22 Comments

Phoenix, Arizona is a haven for glamorous getaways and luxury resorts. Fancy spas, sparkling pools, top-notch restaurants, palm trees and beautiful views. Phoenix will take your breath away.

Where To Stay In Phoenix:

Central Phoenix and Scottsdale are the hubs for 4 and 5 Diamond luxury resorts. During my last trip to Phoenix, I stayed and dined at 15 different hotels and resorts. Here is my top 5 list of luxury resorts in Phoenix, with recommendations to help you decide which resort best suits your personal style.

1 of 5 Luxury Resorts: Royal Palms Resort & Spa

This stunning resort has a romantic aura that resonates on every corner. Built in 1929 as a Spanish Mediterranean Mansion, it’s been modified to become one of Phoenix’s 4 Diamond resort properties. Most noteworthy is that the property’s original building-blocks are untouched. As you walk through the mansion, you’ll find artifacts and gems from the owner’s travels around the world. The resort’s charm is in its royal courtyards, winding cobblestone pathways, fountains, and warm culinary experiences.

If you’re seeking intimacy and romance in Arizona, Royal Palms is the resort for you. A perfect place for a romantic getaway with authentic ambiance of Mediterranean attractiveness and elegance.

2 of 5 Luxury Resorts: Fairmont Scottsdale Princess

This 5 Diamond Resort is a unique blend of Spanish and modern architecture. The decor showcases contemporary style, with a touch of timeless elegance and iconic luxury of the Fairmont brand. The resort prioritizes your convenience. Hence its on-site pampering, shopping and various top-notch restaurants to choose from.

For all the health and wellness nuts, one of the most unique features of the Scottsdale Princess is a beautiful yoga studio. It hosts aerial hammock yoga classes that you won’t want to miss.

This resort is an ideal choice for families and energetic travellers with a healthy appetite for vibrant atmospheres. Whether you’re looking for unique personalized service or activities for you or your family, this resort caters to please everyone!

3 of 5 Luxury Resorts: Arizona Biltmore, A Waldorf Astoria Resort

Known as the “Jewel of the Desert”, the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix is the epitome of posh style. It has stunning bright rooms, suites and villas. Most noteworthy is the overall decor and landscaping. The resort proudly displays ageless class and grandeur. You could be sunbathing at “The Catalina Pool”, where Marilyn Monroe spent her most memorable days. Or you could be taking a stroll where high socialites hosted parties in the late 1920’s. As a result, the Biltmore lives and breathes history.

If you appreciate unique high-class experiences, you’ll definitely want to book your stay here. Lavish architecture, interior decor, culinary arts and more. This resort takes great care to give memorable experiences to those with vintage upscale taste.

4 of 5 Luxury Resorts: The Phoenician – A Luxury Collection Resort Scottsdale

Another award-winning 5 Diamond Resort in Scottsdale. This resort is a true gem of contemporary luxury. It uses a beautiful combination of rich and soft tones that light up the space around you. The Phoenician manifests modern glamour and upscale class. If you’re all about lounging in an elegant pool cabana, playing a round of golf or a game of tennis, this property has it all under one elaborate roof. From its majestic chandeliers to its tasteful style and decor, you can’t help but feel as if you’re in a fairytale.

If you love to splurge when you travel, splurging never looked better at The Phoenician! As a Starwood Luxury Collection resort, it makes it easy for devoted SPG points collectors, like myself, combine luxurious travel with luxurious rewards.

5 of 5 Luxury Resorts: JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa

Nestled right in the Sonoran desert, Camelback Mountain is this property’s backyard. The JW Camelback is a unique resort that offers comfortable luxury to make you feel right at home. Hence the elegant decor and hint of rustic authenticity in the rooms. While some rooms have gorgeous views of Paradise Valley, others have luxurious private decks and pools. And, especially beautiful are the lavish gardens, sparkling oasis pools and a terrace settled in the heart of the resort. The JW Camelback offers a bit of paradise with a lot of relaxation in mind.

It’s beautiful to wake up in the desert. And you can do it comfortably, authentically and luxuriously at the JW Camelback with an incredible view of the Sonoran. If your appetite calls for authentic luxury, you’ll definitely find it here!

All of the above is based on my own experiences, feelings and opinions. Personally, it’s a very difficult decision to pick just one! Each resort has its own particular personality and specialties. But, all of them rank in luxury, comfort and giving memorable guest experiences. Saying that, I hope I’ve made your choice just a tad bit easier.

Safe travels!

I feel you Amanda, I’m sick of the cold temperatures here in Toronto… Pheonix is a great place to get away to… right about now!

  1. Having working in the luxury hotel industry for 20 years, I had the pleasure of staying at 3 of these hotels and can attest that this is great list!! If you have not already done a list of the smaller boutique hotels in Phoenix, might I suggest The Sanctuary at Camelback? It was my favorite place to stay while in Phoenix on business. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to checking out more of your blog!!

Hi Heather, thank you so much for commenting. i love hearing the perspective of people in the industry. I’m an event planner by trade so a good hotel is so important to me πŸ™‚ I actually love boutique hotels more than bigger chains. I’ll have to check the Sanctuary out next time! It’s too bad I didn’t get this message earlier, I’ll be going back to Phoenix in April, staying at The JW Camelback again, as well as the OMNI and Hyatt at Gainey Ranch. But, now I have another reason to go back πŸ™‚ Thanks again for commenting, I look forward to sharing more with you!

Beautiful resort isn’t it? How did you like it? I’m going back in April, staying at two of the ones I listed and adding Hyatt Gainey Ranch and Omni to the mix. So excited!

  2. I must admit I rarely stay at places of this sort – I prefer local guesthouses in some remote corners of the world like Kazakhstan πŸ˜‰ But once I stayed in a 5-star hotel in the world’s most bizarre resort town – Avaza in Turkmenistan… If you want to relax after a hectic time at work – I guess such a hotel would be perfect! I wouldn’t mind to go there for a weekend break!

Thanks for commenting Tom! So I agree with you and I’m a bit of a mix πŸ™‚ I like staying at luxury hotels because… well I’m kind of a hotel snob after being in the event planning industry / hospitality industry for so long lol. The difference at a 5 start hotel is incredible. However, it depends where you go! For Palm Springs or places like it on short / weekend getaways, I’d stay at a 5 star hotel. If I’m going to a more “authentic” place and further away from home, I’d book an air BnB, Bed and Breakfast or a nice boutique hotel. Both worlds are great πŸ˜€ P.S I’d love to go to Kazakhstan, I’ve heard great things about it!

  3. I had no idea about these resorts in Phoenix😊 Saving for when we take our trip.

  4. These places looks amazing πŸ˜€ I havent stayed at many luxury resorts but would love to try it out. Important to treat yourself with luxury every now and then πŸ˜€ The FAIRMONT SCOTTSDALE PRINCESS sounds amazing, would love to go to the yoga classes there πŸ˜€

Treating yourself once in a while is the way to go πŸ™‚ Sometimes you just need to be pampered, not always, but in Phoenix I think it’s necessary! YES, the yoga there is amazing. Such a different but great concept πŸ™‚
