Sacred. Ancient. Enchanting. New Mexico is anything but ordinary. It’s surrounded by fascinating mysticism and old native traditions. This is a land definitely worthy of exploration. And there’s no better way to experience it than at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa!
Adorning this pueblo-style resort are the wildly beautiful Sandia Mountains, captivating cottonwood forest and nature trails. Naturally, it hides from bustling city life, which makes it the perfect place for an authentic Southwestern experience.
World-Class Amenities with a Southwestern Twist:
For many reasons, the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort is the ideal New Mexican getaway retreat. Its decor elegantly displays the fusion of modern and ancient elements. The overwhelming rustic beauty, inside and out, will transform you to an enchanting Southwestern setting. Additionally, its world-class amenities and culturally enriched atmosphere are exceptionally noteworthy. But, its breathtaking location is the cherry on the top!
Strolling around the nature trails with my husband, I felt a connection with the landscape surrounding me. One footsteps at a time, I could feel vibrant rays of energy from the land beneath. The sun slowly dipped behind the mountains. It etched fiery orange, blue and hazy pink hues into the rocks. Quickly and quietly, the forest began to darken.
Corn Maiden – A Warm Culinary Adventure on a Cool New Mexican Night:
Low sounds of elegant music echoed from the resort. By now the sun had almost set behind the Sandias. The blue hour was upon us, bringing a light chilly breeze with it. We made our way back for an authentic dinner.
The staff welcomed us at Corn Maiden, an upscale fine-dining restaurant inside the resort. The winter menu is crafted to keep guests warm on mildly cool New Mexican nights.
My taste buds had gone wild, flooded with delicious Southwestern flavouring. Electrifying spices and locally grown ingredients marinated into one. The warm touches of New Mexican flavours were a huge win for me!
Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort – A Cultural Experience:
The Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort does a great job at preserving historic cultural details and natural materials. Together with this, it invites guests to dissolve into the world of the ancient Tamayame people.
The resort hosts Native American activities from pottery and jewelry making to adobe building. Guests can also enjoy horse back riding on the nature trails. Additional activities include rafting in the nearby Rio Grande, and hot air ballooning in Albuquerque. While the resort offers many activities to guests, the one I liked most was relaxing!
Tamaya Mist Spa – Releasing Stress with Ancient Drumming:
Our room, directly facing the cottonwood forest and Sandia mountains, filled with a hazy light. From the balcony, I could see morning mist floating around the cottonwood trees. It was neither foggy nor clear. A cotton candy like haze whirled around the mountains in the background. Shortly after, the haze began to clear, welcoming the new day!
Meanwhile, having been invited to make a boundless connection with the ancient Tamayame culture and land, I embracing my inner well-being at Tamaya Mist Spa. Entering into a realm of pure spiritual tranquility, I chose to get the “Ancient Drumming Signature Treatment”. Uniquely, this treatment offers an authentic method of relaxation and full body detoxification.
At last, submerging into a deep state of euphoria, my skin absorbed a soothing body masque. The masque is made of mud from the Jemez mountains and New Mexican red chile. One drum beat after another, tension slowly floated away. Using an ancient technique, my therapist rhythmically drummed muslin bags over my body.
Then came the most elating feeling! Warm, tingling oil oozed down my body. My skin quenched it up, sending comforting vibes internally. I had made an intimate connection with the elements of the land and its native traditions!

Things to Note about this Blog Post:
I paid for my accommodations at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort out of pocket. However, as part of my partnership with the Resort, our dinner at the Corn Maiden Restaurant and my Spa Treatment were complimentary. Nevertheless, all opinions in the blog post are my own.
